Extension of COBRA Subsidy
You probably learned of this late last week, but just to be sure you know, President Obama has signed the Continuing Extension Act of 2010, once again extending the COBRA premium subsidy. The subsidy had expired on March 31, 2010, when Congress took its recess before acting on the proposal. The bill signed by the President covers all employees who’ve been laid off between April 1 and April 15 and, thus, applies retroactively. It also covers employees laid off though May 31, 2010.
