Peter on the Peter Principle

Laurence J. Peter was an educator. Best known as the formulator of the “Peter Principle,” one wonders if it’s still viable in today’s workplace:

“In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence.”

I don’t know that the Peter Principle is any more or less viable than it always has been. I think the shift has been in how much longer one is able to remain at his level of incompetence.

    Frank,

Thanks for that excellent observation. We should perhaps change this to the Peter Principle as Amended by ACU Frank. Always appreciate your comments.

    John
