Song of the Volga Boatmen — HR Song of the Week
The Red Russian Army Choir sings this well-known traditional Russian song. You’ll recognize the tune immediately. Though it’s said to have been inspired by Repin’s painting, Burlaks on the Volga, depicting the suffering and misery of the people in Tsarist Russia, I think it says something about perseverance, working together, and thinking of your job as being part of something with a higher purpose.
