Churchill on Pigs

I’m not sure this quote has anything to do with human resources or employment law (and some of you might say that about several of the quotes I’ve used). I’ve always liked to quote Winston Churchill, however.
“I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.”

If you’ve not seen The Gathering Storm, the HBO Movie on Churchill, pre-WWII, do yourself a favor and pick it up. They use the quote and so many more great Churchill lines.
This has always been one of my favourite quotes from Churchill.
Given his fondness for pigs, It must have been particularly difficult for Winston at the outset of WW2 when it was realised that Britain could not import enough animal feed to sustain the British pig population.
He must have been heartbroken to have to acquiesce to a decision that saw two thirds of the pigs slaughtered (hundreds of thousands).
The fact that the pigs had to be sacrificed in the war for the greater good is not commonly known, I came across this nugget of information whilst researching Churchill for a book I have recently published called Churchill’s Secret Skills
CO,
I’ve added The Gathering Storm to the list of movies I need to watch. Thanks.
Binden,
Congrats on your Churchill book, and thanks for the nugget of info you shared above. I didn’t know that.
