Time for Fresh Start Via L.L. Bean

This isn’t really a cartoon, but the post I’m linking to does have an advertisement in it, and I don’t think I’ve ever had such a thing in one of my posts on this blog. Sometimes, there’s little difference between a cartoon and an ad, but that’s not the case here.

First, the ad features L.L. Bean, and I don’t think there’s anything cartoonish about L.L. Bean. The company has superior products. It has superior customer service. I’ve never understood why all employers don’t copy the L.L. Bean model.

More importantly, Adria Martinelli of Delaware Employment Law Blog uses a story about the L.L. Bean backpack she bought for her daughter to start kindergarten as a way to urge employers to help their employees find a “fresh start.” There’s always a lot of talk about students getting a fresh start with each new school year. Why not convert that theme into one for our employees with the beginning of 2009′s new school year? Adria, thanks for your thoughtful and thought-provoking post.
