Furloughs: Answers from the DOL
I did a recent post on the wage-hour trap employers that use furloughs as a way of avoiding layoffs and cutting costs could fall into under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The Department of Labor has weighed in on this subject with some frequently asked questions about furloughs and other cost-cutting measures and the DOL’s answers.
