Thurber on Humor

James Thurber was a prolific writer of the 20th century. Among other things, he wrote short stories, fables, humorous essays, and regular contributions to The New Yorker  magazine. He was also a cartoonist and illustrator, drawing covers and illustrations for The New Yorker. From time to time, this blog tries to dabble in wit, satire and humor, for which Thurber had the following quote:

“The wit makes fun of other persons; the satirist makes fun of the world; the humorist makes fun of himself.”
