Layoff by Any Other Word

In the UK, they use the word redundancy instead of layoffs. The British version of The Office, which to me is wildly funny, captures the poignancy of a layoff, when David Brent (Ricky Gervais), the boss, is made redundant and begs not to be.

It’s hard to enjoy, but it should be watched. Please excuse Mr. Brent’s closing vulgarity. In my opinion, it’s a minor indiscretion compared to the reality this Office clip shows about what’s been going on throughout this country and the world for several months.
