The Day Wall Street Exploded
The Day Wall Street Exploded is a new book written by Beverly Gage. Given our present situation, it might be a good read. It melds the collapse of Wall Street with terrorism. But it’s not about our present situation — not even as a fictional account. It’s about an event that occurred in 1920, combining mystery and history.
On September 16, 1920, a horse-drawn cart loaded with dynamite exploded during lunch hour on the busiest corner of New York’s financial district. Hundreds were injured, and 39 people died. It was the deadliest terror attack in the U.S. until the Oklahoma City bombing. The crime was never solved.
Ms. Gage has been at work on the book for a long time. From the standpoint of book sales, it probably couldn’t have been released at a more opportune time.
