Rules for Life — Tip of the Week
I don’t know if the following were really Thomas Jefferson’s rules for life, but they are thought-provoking. Though not perfect, Jefferson was smart, innovative and practical — someone whose rules we could use today. Consider these rules as this week’s tip.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
Never trouble others for what you can do yourself.
Never spend your money before you have it.
Never buy what you do not want because it is cheap.
Pride costs us more than hunger, thirst, and cold.
We never repent of having eaten too little.
Nothing is troublesome that we do willingly.
How much pain have those evils cost us which never happened.
Take things always by their smooth handle.
When angry, count ten before you speak — if very angry, a hundred.
