Geithner Guffaws

Secretary of Treasury Tim Geithner hasn’t gotten off to the best start. Of course, it’s hard to get off to a good start with an economy like the one he and the President inherited. It’s also been widely reported that Treasury is greatly understaffed, making Geithner’s beginning more difficult. But I think there’s more to it than that.

You may recall I did a post about Geithner shortly after his nomination. It was about how President Obama had fudged a bit on his promise not to nominate anyone to a cabinet position who had the slightest ethical problem and how astounding it is to have a Secretary of Treasury who hadn’t been paying his taxes. I think what both Geithner and Obama called an honest mistake bothers people anytime Geithner speaks, just as an employer’s CFO in a similar situation would grate on the nerves of employees when he pontificates about matters financial.

One of my colleagues here in Tennessee, a tax lawyer, has recently done a wonderful parody on Secretary Geithner. It has, of course, ended up on YouTube, and it’s my pleasure to share it with you. Get ready to laugh, which is something we all need to do..
