Acheson on a Memorandum

Dean Acheson was Secretary of State under President Harry Truman. He is one of the most influential people there has ever been in that office.

He had a great quote that not only applies to politics and government but also to the workplace. Today, he might substitute “email” for “memorandum.” See if this rings true:

“A memorandum is written not to inform the reader but to protect the writer.”

  1. Great quotation. Thanks for posting.
