Hard Times in America — HR Song of the Week

Allthough it came out in 1992, Willie Nile’s song about the state of the nation’s employment and economy could have been written about the state we find ourselves in today.

Thanks so much John for the Song of the Day posting. I’m honored. I wish the country was in better straits so a song like this isn’t needed but it is what it is and we have to deal with it.
Hopefully things will get better.
The song was originally released in 1992 and we just released a new live concert DVD and CD so it’s a newly recorded version.
Again, heartfelt thanks.
Willie
Holy cow, Willie! This is a first: a comment from the featured artist.
I have enjoyed posting a song of the week about work. There are some that come to mind easily, and I’ve found a few with which I was unfamiliar. It’s been interesting to realize just how many “work songs” there are.
I remember Hard Times in America, but I must confess it had slipped my mind until I was looking for a song that spoke to our unfortunate economic situation. Hard Times was the perfect choice.
Thanks for reaching out to me. I’m the one who is honored. Streets of New York is terrific. Keep it up.
John
