Quick Look at Other Blogs

There are a few blogs I link to on a more or less regular basis. I don’t necessarily agree with everything they say, but I find everything they say to be interesting and thought-provoking. I thought that today, I’d direct your attention to some of their advice, wisdom and humor.

A new blog I’d like to make you aware of is Work Matters (part of Texas Lawyer and written by Michael Maslanka). Mike routinely has a lot on his mind, and I suspect he’ll be blogging regularly.

I’ve had a fair amount to say about the executives who caused our current economic crisis.  Check out Bob Sutton Work Matters for his opinion that bailed-out bankers should have something tattooed across their foreheads.

Cultural Offering is a blog I often use to supplement my HR Song of the Week with other good music. Check out CO for a little Jethro Tull. Also, CO has something to say about appropriate dress, something I’ve written about from the workplace perspective.

I’ve written quite a bit about the election, trying to draw employment lessons from it. Dan Schwartz has been blogging lately about an election guide for employment law-related issues. (Click here and here.)

Michael Moore has his own election guide when it comes to employment law issues.

The Laconic Law Blog also weighs in on employment issues to consider in this election.

I occasionally write about recruiting challenges, particularly in this economic crisis. Delaware Employment Law Blog gives insight into recruiting the challenging Gen Y employees (Millenials, if you prefer). You may be surprised about who you’re recruiting when going after a Millenial.

It’s not unusual to see something on this blog about healthcare or some other medical-related employment law issue. Execupundit has something different to offer about a visit to the doctor.

When I began this blog, one of the first issues I wrote a lot about was age discrimination. I continue to believe that, as thousands of boomers turn 60 every day, it’ll be a huge issue during the next decade. Jon Hyman reports on an interesting age discrimination case and lessons to be learned.

Handling a performance review has been covered in one way or another on this blog from time to time. Have you ever thought about getting rid of performance reviews? See what Jottings By An Employer’s Lawyer has to say about this.

The always unpredictable Eclecticity also weighs in on banning performance reviews.

From time to time, I like to write about leadership in the context of the workplace or a company.  Managing Leadership writes about this topic all the time. You’ll note in this post from ML, there’s a link to the “current series” on leadership being done by the blog this week.
