Heracles on Life and Time

The Olympics has its share of creation stories.  One version says the games originated with Heracles (the Roman Hercules), a son of Zeus.  You can look that one up if you want to know more details.  I could find only one quote attributed to Heracles, and it’s a good one.  Let all employees who work more and more hours each year hear what the mighty Heracles had to say.

“Our lives are but a little while, so let them run as sweetly as you can, and give no thought to grief from day to day.  For time is not concerned to keep our hopes, but hurries on its business, and is gone.”

(So it’s not all about me?)

  2. E,
