The Health Insurance Conundrum
One issue that keeps coming up in the presidential campaign and has come up for a long time in the workplace and society generally is what to do about health insurance. It’s an issue that’s important to employers because of the cost involved, no matter how your health insurance plan may be structured.
Should the government provide health insurance for everyone? Should employers be required to provide health insurance for all employees? Should the government and employers share the responsibility? Should the government, employers and employees share the responsibility? And the list of questions could go on and on?
There’s no simple solution, and there’s no telling what the next president will propose. There’s also no telling whether he/she can get Congress to approve whatever is proposed. There was an interesting article in the New York Times a couple of days ago about the health insurance system in Great Britain. One thing that makes it interesting is that it shows you what can happen when you’re tyring to have a health insurance system that combines public, private and individual responsibility. The article shows that health insurance and health care are big conundrums in GB. The article should also cause us to closely examine any proposal on these subjects made by our presidential candidates.

Good post.
Thanks very much.
