Political Humor
For those of you who think I’m half crazy for suggesting the use of the ’08 election as a teaching and learning opportunity for your employees, you need not read any further.
For those of you seriously thinking about using the election in this manner, you should also seriously think about using humor as a way to break the ice and wade into these chilly educational waters. Even here, though, you need to utilize a high degree of care. After all, humor can be as dangerous as the other issues we’ve been discussing.
A friend sent me an article by Dave Barry (who is also half crazy) that’s on someone else’s blog. Although it’s not something new Barry has written, it’s one of those timeless pieces. He writes about the red state-blue state divide. It should give you some ideas on how to start a conversation with your employees about some of these serious issues by using a little humor.
